The work that decides how a change-out goes happens before anyone touches the conveyor. Remcon helps you assess as much of the conveyor's condition ahead of time as possible, so we can pre-fabricate and prepare in our shop before the conveyor ever shuts down. That preparation keeps the overall cost of the project down and minimizes the amount of on-site time spent fabricating parts.
We also plan for what we can't see. We can arrange to have materials on hand to fix damage that is discovered once the belt comes off — which we start looking for as soon as we get on site — and if there are unused lengths of steel left over, we check ahead of time to make sure they can go back to the supplier if you don't want to keep them for future repairs.
Working Inside Your Downtime Window
Belt replacement is scheduled around your production, not ours. Because each job is planned per conveyor, the on-site portion is scoped to fit the downtime window you actually have — and shop preparation is what makes that possible. Cold-bonded belts arrive with the initial coats of glue already applied and cured in our shop, ready for the final coat with no waiting in the field. Hot-bonded belts are prepared so the ends just need to be aligned in the belt press and vulcanized — ready to run as soon as they cool down.

Remcon arrives on site with all the necessary tools and equipment to do the work, including the gluing and clamping equipment for bonded belts. The change-out can be run by a complete Remcon crew, or by a Remcon-supervised crew of your own people — whichever fits your operation and budget. Working Parts, Inspected During the Change-Out

We inspect parts on-site during the belt replacement process, bring spare parts that might be needed, and return most parts that aren't used if you don't want to keep them on hand as spares. A scheduled belt replacement is usually a good time to inspect and repair damage inside the conveyor that cannot be easily seen or accessed while the belt is on the conveyor. Doing the structural work while the belt is off makes the best use of the time the conveyor is out of service — one shutdown instead of two.

How long does a conveyor belt change-out take?
It depends on the conveyor, so every change-out is planned per job — a small belt can be a simple one-man job, while a wide bonded belt on a production line is a planned project run against the clock. Shop preparation is how we keep the on-site portion short: pre-fabricated parts, cold-bond belts pre-glued in our shop, and materials on hand for damage found along the way. Do you replace belts on conveyors from other manufacturers?
Yes. Remcon replaces and repairs belts on other brands of conveyors as well as our own, and supplies the working parts and custom fabricated parts to go with them. If you're not sure what the conveyor needs, we can help you assess its condition and develop a belt replacement plan.
Can a damaged conveyor belt be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, yes. Damaged sections of rubber belt, steel belt, chain (both roller and drag), and mechanical splicing can be repaired or replaced individually. We help you assess the belt's condition first — if a repair will buy real service life we'll say so, and if the belt is due, we'll plan the change-out before it stops you.
